Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings Review

0

Tsui Hark returns to direct the third outing of Detective Dee, also making a welcome return as Dee is Mark Chao in his second outing.

This was my first time seeing a movie from the franchise and I was no disappointed. The story was great and Mark Chao played a great interpretation of Dee. I was left wanting more and wanting to watch the other movies in this franchise.

The action scenes were really good, there was wirework, stuff reminiscent of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The visual effects are what make this movie amazing, there is quite a few big special effects towards the end and they were done superbly.

There wasn’t one point in this movie I was bored or had to look away. Right from the start I was hooked and intrigued. I am now eagerly awaiting more films, as the adventures of Dee are ones I would love to follow.

The finale is what action fans live for and it is amazing. I really don’t want to give anything away, but it is totally badass!!

Tsui Hark has delivered a clever adventure worthy of a FIVE STAR rating, a movie not to be missed and franchise that visually is phenomenal.
