Few actors have left quite the same mark on action cinema as Dolph Lundgren. From his unforgettable breakthrough as Ivan Drago in Rocky IV to his appearances in some of the genre’s most recognisable films, Lundgren has spent decades entertaining audiences with a career that extends far beyond his imposing screen presence.
Now, with his new documentary Dolph: Unbreakable, audiences have the opportunity to discover more about the man behind the action star.
Action Reloaded recently had the opportunity to sit down with Dolph Lundgren for an exclusive 10-minute interview, discussing the documentary, his career, his battle with cancer and two films that remain firm favourites among action fans.
Dolph Lundgren: The Punisher and Universal Soldier
For action enthusiasts, Lundgren’s portrayal of Frank Castle in The Punisher (1989) remains a fascinating chapter in the character’s cinematic history. Long before the character’s later big-screen and television adaptations, Lundgren brought his own interpretation of Marvel’s vigilante to audiences.
We also revisit Universal Soldier (1992), the science-fiction action classic that brought Lundgren together with Jean-Claude Van Damme. Directed by Roland Emmerich, the film remains one of the defining action movies of the early 1990s.
Dolph: Unbreakable and His Personal Journey
Beyond the action, our conversation turns to Dolph: Unbreakable, a documentary exploring the actor’s life and experiences.
We also discuss Lundgren’s battle with cancer, adding a more personal dimension to a conversation that celebrates both his cinematic achievements and the challenges he has faced away from the screen.
