Synopsis: The story follows professional thief Assane Diop, the only son of an immigrant from Senegal who had come to France to seek a better life for his child. Assane’s father is framed for the theft of an expensive diamond necklace by his employer, the wealthy and powerful Hubert Pellegrini, and hangs himself in his prison cell out of shame, leaving the teenage Assane an orphan. Twenty-five years later, inspired by a book about gentleman thief Arsène Lupin his father had given him on his birthday, Assane sets out to get revenge on the Pellegrini family, using his charisma and mastery of thievery, subterfuge, and disguise to expose Hubert’s crimes
Review: Assane Diop, played by Omar Sy, bursts straight into action in the opening of Lupin, season two. Diop is on a rescue mission and comes face to face with the relentless hitman who kidnapped his son, which leads to another unnerving cliffhanger. The stakes in this season are high. Everyone that cares for Diop are at risk in this deadly game, because his identity has been revealed. As always, Diop has plenty of tricks and disguises up his sleeve, but they don’t always go to plan. There are plenty of double-crosses and character uncertainties.
This season of Lupin is a set of five episodes, too. Each episode brings more light to the dark mystery, and gives the viewers an exciting thrill. Lupin is a show that will keep you hooked, no doubt.
In this season, the brilliantly directed flashback sequences return. They play a huge part in one particular episode that features the underground catacombs – an adrenaline-pumping episode, to say the least!
Lupin rose to incredible popularity, and is it any wonder? Both seasons showcase fantastic acting, ever-evolving characters, and a nail-biting storyline . It’s not often that a show can keep up momentum for each episode, but Lupin is showing directors how it’s done. The five-episode-per-season formula works to perfection. By the time the credits of the last episode roll, you will eagerly be awaiting part three! And thankfully… it’s coming our way!
