Farewell
Mark Harmon is about to leave his role as Gibbs in the nineteenth season of NCIS.
This is the final season for lead actor Mark Harmon as Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the long-running crime drama. During the fourth episode, Gibbs gets his send off. Will he end up with a toe tag or will he ride off into the sunset? It’s up to you guys to find out!
The departure of Gibbs from the series is similar to that of Rick from The Walking Dead. It doesn’t take place at midseason or at the end of the season. Gary Cole takes over as Alden Parker as the series reaches its fourth episode. This is Gibbs’ last appearance.
Having lost such a central character in the show does impact it a little, but by the end of the season we know Alden and how he operates. Sure, he won’t be Gibbs but the show doesn’t try to make a carbon copy of him. Gary Cole does things his way as he begins filling some very large boots as he makes the character his own.
Not only does NCIS conclude one chapter of the lead actor’s story, but it also introduces a new leader to lead the team and build upon a new era for the franchise. It is time to show support to Gary Cole and the NCIS team and enjoy some more years of this fantastic show. Mark Harmon was a great Gibbs, but now it is time to show our support to Gary Cole and the NCIS team.
