Nobody 2 Review: Hutch is Back in an Explosive New Adventure

Bob Odenkirk returns as Hutch Mansell with director Timo Tjahjanto at the helm. Nobody 2 brings back the fast-paced, bone-crunching fights and slick action while maintaining a lighter tone that keeps Hutch from drifting into a dark, brooding tunnel vision. Simply put, Hutch is trying to make memories— with his family, from whom he’s slowly becoming estranged.

His wife, Becca (Connie Nielsen), is understandably frustrated, and his kids, Brady (Gage Munroe) and Sammy (Paisley Cadorath), are slipping further and further out of reach. So Hutch pulls the plug on the chaos and decides it’s time to make some proper memories, dragging everyone off to Plummerville, the small town his dad once took him and his brother Harry (RZA) for their one childhood getaway. Problem is… that “vacation” spot wasn’t exactly a vacation. Hutch has no idea that his dad, David (Christopher Lloyd), originally brought them there on the job—Plummerville is a magnet for crooks, deals, and all sorts of underground nonsense. So of course Hutch’s attempt at family bonding derails fast when he lands on the radar of Lendina (Sharon Stone), the town’s icy, vicious crime boss who doesn’t take kindly to strangers poking around. Suddenly, Hutch’s peaceful trip turns into a fight for survival as he scrambles to protect his family from the nightmare she unleashes. Colin Hanks pops up as a flustered sheriff who’s completely out of his depth, while John Ortiz brings a grounded presence as the town’s mayor, caught between the locals and the criminal empire running the place.

Because of the fallout from the first movie, Hutch is still paying off his debts by carrying out a series of hits. Eventually, he decides he needs a break. Unfortunately, that break doesn’t last long. Hutch soon finds himself entangled with a powerful criminal faction—and when he reaches out for help, the people he’s been working for tell him he’s on his own.

Odenkirk continues to nail the role, proving once again that these films are pure “kick back and cheer at the screen” entertainment. Connie Nielsen steps up in a big way as Hutch’s wife, delivering some genuinely badass moments in the finale. Christopher Lloyd and RZA return as Hutch’s dad and brother, each getting their own standout scene—the sword fight with RZA is especially fun.

Sharon Stone is on hand as the film’s deadly, ruthlessly efficient villain, and you can absolutely tell she’s having a blast chewing into the role. She brings a sharp, sinister energy that elevates every scene she’s in. Her main henchman is portrayed by the absolute powerhouse Daniel Bernhardt, who once again delivers the goods. He radiates pure menace and unleashes one brutally satisfying fight sequence that fans will be talking about.

The finale takes place at a local fairground, offering a colourful and inventive battlefield filled with creative kills. The minefield ball pit is an instant classic.

Nobody 2 is a blast from start to finish. Here’s hoping for a third entry—one that throws Hutch into another chaotic, refreshing, and wildly entertaining situation.

So, like Hutch, go grab this on DVD, Blu-ray, or 4K now… and start making memories.
