William Kaufman returns with the sci-fi action movie, Osiris!

Let me tell you now—Kaufman is a man who knows how to make an action movie. The way his gunfights are choreographed, how his actors move and handle their weapons—it’s subtle, but it pulls you in immediately. It’s a small thing, but something I personally love.

Osiris sees Max Martini step into the lead as Kelly, a no-nonsense, badass special forces soldier. His team—Rhodie (LaMonica Garrett), Reyes (Michael Irby), Nash (Linds Edwards), Jax (Jaren Mitchell), and Gibbs (David B. Meadows)—are a force to be reckoned with. Their opening combat sequence? Pure badassery. Right from the jump, you know these are not people to be f****d with.

This movie is an automatic hit. Kaufman took a leap with this one—and it’s paid off. We know him for his gritty action flicks (Shrapnel, The Channel), and now he’s crossed into alien-action territory—and nailed it.

Osiris plays like a love letter to Alien and Predator. The alien designs nod to both franchises, especially with that Predator-style sport-hunting premise. The alien ship’s interior even has that eerie, industrial Alien vibe. But don’t mistake this for some mockbuster ripoff—this is its own beast, handled with real craft.

Bringing Linda Hamilton on board as a hardened, Ripley-esque character? Absolute badass move. Her presence instantly ups the stakes.

And when the chaos kicks off, I found myself yelling for Kaufman to stop lollygagging and get himself in the director’s chair for the Gears of War movie. He’s the guy. No question.

Brianna Hildebrand plays Ravi, a resident of the ship with a link to Hamilton’s character. She’s no damsel in distress—she’s more of a Sarah Connor (T2 edition), and she owns every scene she’s in.

And here’s the thing—no character is ever safe in a Kaufman movie. That’s what makes his films so edge-of-your-seat. He’s the kind of director who has no qualms killing off much-loved characters, and Osiris is no different. It keeps you guessing, and it hits hard.

Osiris is a fun Saturday night flick—pure action-driven entertainment that lets you switch off and enjoy the ride. The characters are all well-written and well-acted. No one feels forced, no one drags the story down. It just works.

Once again, Kaufman strikes gold—and I’ve gotta give him five solid golden ones.

Rating: 5 out of 5.
