Rambo: First Blood Part 2 Movie Review

Rambo: First Blood Part 2 (1985)
Director: George P. Cosmatos
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna, Charles Napier, Steven Berkoff, Julie Nickson, Martin Kove and George Cheung
Synopsis: John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) is doing hard time in jail when his former boss, Col. Troutman (Richard Crenna), offers him a deal. If Rambo travels to Vietnam to try to find the American prisoners of war, his criminal record will be expunged. Rambo takes the reconnaissance assignment and agrees not to get involved in any of the action. However, when his Vietnamese lover, Co Bao (Julia Nickson), is killed by American forces, Rambo forgets his promise and takes matters into his own hands.
Review: Stallone’s second outing as Rambo features a high body count and Rambo is amped up, taking out bad guys with guns, knives, bare hands and of course his lethal bow and arrow which he happens to have some explosive arrow tips for.
There are a couple of great scenes in this installment of the Rambo franchise, my favourite would have to be when Rambo is being hunted by some of the Russian army and he takes them all out silently, the most memorable part being when he camouflages himself in mud and we as the audience don’t even see him until he wants us to. There a few more note worthy scenes like when Rambo lures soldiers into a paddy field and then sets it alight, Rambo also rescues the P.O.W.’s shoots some guys with an M60 machine gun and then we have a helicopter chase and explosion scene, that’s only naming a couple of scenes.
This movie as you guys can tell is very different in tone compared to the first movie. We venture more into action territory with this movie and it is a blast and Sly is in magnificent shape. Recommended for every action fan, it’s got guns, knives, explosions, fist fights, helicopter chase and muscles it’s got all the ingredients for a awesome ride. So come on guys get on board and enjoy the wild ride.
