Review: I know I am a little late to the party here. But I was sent a screener of Debt Collector 2 or Payback. As it is known on UK DVD. I was excited to watch a new Adkins movie. I will admit. I haven’t seen Avengement. Heard good things and own it. Just haven’t found the time. But I will soon, that I promise. I also hadn’t seen the first Debt Collector.
So here we go. Debt Collector never slows down in terms of fight scenes, it is loaded with awesome fights. I never found myself getting bored or retreating to my phone. I was fully in the zone from the moment the movie started.
Scott Adkins and Louis Mandylor play French and Sue. Louis Mandylor plays the role Sue, a seasoned Debt Collector and some-what of an alcoholic, he is also an ex boxer and B-movie star. He would be what I imagine Martin Riggs’s brother being like. Scott Adkins plays French, he owns a dojo that is in financial difficulty and takes on the job of Debt Collecting to raise money to keep afloat. While being a skilled fighter, he is tested to his limits with the jobs he has to carry out, as he ends up being beaten and shot at on his first morning, it sounds a little extreme but it plays out so funny. The balance of action and comedy mixes so well. It would be like Bad Boys, Lethal Weapon in terms of action and comedy. I would wholely recommend this movie to any and everyone. It was such a fun ride.
