I can honestly say that there are some TV shows that have remained popular for decades, and The Dukes of Hazzard is one of them. The good old boys are back in Hazzard County for a sequel that came out a decade after the first and final season of the show. It was exactly what the fans needed, as all their beloved characters were back for a reunion.
I think that is why this is so good. It feels like it is a straight retelling of an episode of the original TV series, which makes it a pretty cool experience for the fans. All our heroes are back, including the General Lee, and even though some of them have aged, it’s like a fine wine.
The trouble begins when a development project is announced to take over Hazzard County. This is something Uncle Jesse opposes to and starts to get shunned within Hazzard. When the boys arrive home along with Daisy it is not long before a suggestion is made. In true Hazzard style a race is organized to decide the future of the county, and Bo and Luke have to rely on the General Lee to take a chance at winning it. As always, there are some dirty tricks and corrupt officials, who are ready to do anything to see the bad guys in charge.
Of course, the General Lee does not disappoint in terms of action and thrilling stunts. After a dust off and evicting the chickens who have taken up residence in it.
The Duke boys are as loyal as ever, and even though they have grown up, they still share the same connection. Rosco is just Rosco and slightly more corrupt, he is now Boss Rosco, after the passing of our fat lil buddy. One of the highlights about the film is the bar fight at the boars nest, which sees the Dukes and Enos getting into a good old fashion fist fight. We also meet Bertha Jo played by martial arts expert Cynthia Rothrock, who has lots of fun in her role.
As I have said, The Dukes of Hazzard: Reunion is a great way to remember the old good times. The film perfectly recaptures the spirit of the original series, which is sometimes hard to find in other sequels. It is full of action, comedy and a little bit of drama.
Many people wonder whether it was worth making this movie, but for me, it definitely was. It is fun to watch, full of all the feel-good factors that made the original so special. I would even go as far as to say that I did not have a single complaint while watching the film. It is a great experience for all the fans of the original series, and a chance to see all the actors back in their old roles. For me, that was priceless.
