Countdown (2025) Episode 111: “Run” – Review, Outstanding
Opening with a silent but chilling scene, this episode immediately sets a sinister tone. A mysterious figure methodically hunts and kills a deer—not just with a bullet, but with a brutal stomp that tells us this guy isn’t just dangerous, he’s personal about it. No dialogue, just pure menace. It’s a strong and eerie start that promises we’re in for something dark.
Back in the world of the task force, Meachum and Oliveras reunite following Meachum’s hospitalisation. The emotional undercurrent runs deep here—Oliveras has moved on romantically, and even though Meachum is the type to brush it off, we get a glimpse into his vulnerability. Jensen Ackles nails the subtle heartbreak, showing a side of Meachum we don’t often see.
Eric Dane continues to dominate as Blythe, oozing authority with nothing more than a look or a line. He doesn’t need a full-blown action scene to command presence—his calm power and ability to call in force at a moment’s notice speaks volumes. Blythe is a man with gravity, and Dane plays it effortlessly.
The team’s pursuit leads them to TK, a so-called spiritual guru renting out the infamous cabins, including Cabin 6 where the manifesto and weapons were found. But TK, it turns out, is just another piece on the board. He’s being used, and this “pawn” reveal only adds to the looming feeling that something far bigger is at play.
The episode is a slow burn with intensity steadily building, and you can feel the finale breathing down your neck. The writing’s tight, the suspense is building, and the show clearly isn’t done playing mind games with us. If this is the beginning of the end, it’s coming in strong.
Countdown continues to do what it does best—twist the knife just when you think you’re comfortable.
