Iceman: The Time Traveler

Synopsis:
Frozen in time for 400 years, Ming Dynasty General He Ying (action legend Donnie Yen, Ip Man trilogy, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) wakes in modern China only to learn the terrible fate of his home village. Racing back to the past and battling old enemies, he fights to protect his family, his country and the woman he loves from invaders.

Review: I didn’t know what to expect when coming into this movie as every Donnie Yen movie has a different feel to it. The fact this movie had Donnie Yen and Simon Yam in it instantly had me drew to it. I would love to say its like the martial arts equivalent of Back To The Future, but it’s not as they end up going back to the past from being in the future, confusing on paper but makes sense on film. The movie is full of breath-taking visual effects and fight scenes that fit in place within this universe. Donnie is on top form playing our time travelling hero and gets a couple of good fight scenes that should please fans, the movie is essentially a big budget action fantasy full of spectacular special effects, a bigger more open world version of Timecop. I have yet to see the first Iceman movie but I do know I will be tracking it down to see how it all originally begun. The movie has an open ending that can expand into anyway it wants, it is left so open that we can maybe get a quadrilogy atleast if we are lucky enough!! Let’s get behind this movie and support it and maybe get a few more made. Fans of the Detective Dee franchise are bound to be attracted to this!!
