Mayor of Kingstown (2022-) Dark, Gripping and Thrilling

Starring: Jeremy Renner, Dianne Wiest, Kyle Chandler and Derek Webster.
Synopsis: A crime drama about an important contemporary issue, America’s prison system, “Mayor of Kingstown” follows the McLusky family in Kingstown, Mich., where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. The family of power brokers between police, criminals, inmates, prison guards and politicians tackle themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality. The crime thriller series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

Sheridan strikes gold again!
It is safe to say that Jeremy Renner is absolutely killing it in this new series from Taylor Sheridan, who is known for Yellowstone, 1883, Sicario, Hell or High Water, Wind River, and others. Taylor Sheridan is easily one of the very best writers in Hollywood right now, and Mayor of Kingstown has already proven itself as a top notch crime/drama series.
In addition to co-creating the show, Hugh Dillon is also a television and film star, and he knows the location where it was shot quite well, as he was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, the city that is most famous for housing the Kingston Penitentiary, which houses hardcore long-term criminals.
Despite knowing corruption exists, in Kingstown we see who is responsible for balancing the scales of justice which is an issue that is confronted head-on by Jeremy Renner, who plays Mike McLusky.
The next EPIC series
The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire were highly acclaimed series, but this is going to be the most highly acclaimed drama/crime series since then. It has all the ingredients to be just as big and have a huge cult following. Mark my words.
Verdict
There is no better actor to lead the show than Jeremy Renner. Renner and Sheridan previously collaborated on Wind River and it seems that Sheridan knows how to write a role that gets Renner to flex his acting muscles. Renner delivers a strong performance.
With Renner, Sheridan, and Dillon combining forces, a solid show is delivered on all levels. Sheridan will keep the show tight and entertaining and bow out before it gets monotonous, as we know he does with his work. Now is the time to check this out!
