Bad Boys: Ride Or Die -High Octane Explosive Action

Martin Lawrence and Will Smith make an explosive return in Bad Boys Ride or Die

Bad Boys is hands down one of the most fun action franchises to date, it tops Lethal Weapon with the buddy-cop dynamic and definitely matches them for body count and explosions.

The fourth entry in the franchise and the second directed by Adil & Bilall is the best in the franchise.

The movie doesn’t forget its previous entries but instead builds off them and references them, such as previous characters, Vargas and Ruiz (Who helped Marcus and Mike rescue Marcus’s sister, Syd in Bad Boys 2), Syd is also mentioned along with Max who was involved with Mike in the original movie. Some nice throwbacks interconnecting the universe, something I love to see in sequels.

The action in this entry is a lot of fun and features some really cool set pieces along with some very engaging and cool camera work that makes the audience feel involved in the action. While we get some fun action sequences throughout the movie it’s an action segment with the character, Reggie that really steals the show. Adil & Bilall deliver a fast paced action sequence that showcases some badass John Wick style moves and Reggie finally gets the seal of approval into the family. Another highlight was a scene in the club where Marcus and Mike go to meet series giant Fletcher which recreates a scene from the original but Marcus and Mike’s roles are reversed. Also, be on the lookout for a cameo from Mike’s car from the original Bad Boys movie.

Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are back at their best

Marcus and Mike are getting older and that’s something that is made aware of, they’re not as young as they used to be but they’re still as bad as they ever have been. Mike begins to realise he is mortal and worries about his future with his wife! While Marcus thinks he’s immortal and can’t die after an incident at the beginning of the movie, this sets up for some funny and great scenes.

Martin Lawrence delivers a great scene at the beginning of the movie, during the incident previously mentioned. It’s a scene that you wouldn’t expect in the franchise but it works so well. Martin and Will are both amazing actors that have the ability to deliver every range of emotion and retain action ready status, Bad Boys is built on laughs, love and high octane action, Adil & Bilall deliver this on every aspect.

Jacob Scipio returns as Mike’s estranged son, Armando who unwillingly teams up with Mike and Marcus after they’re all framed. Armando gets some cool action sequences and the scenes featuring him, Marcus and Mike are some of the best, the club scene had me in stitches with a cameo from Tiffany Haddish.

The AMMO team also return and get to kick some ass along with the new captain Rita who gets a much meatier role this time around and a few badass key moments.

Eric Dane is on villain duties and he never fails to deliver an epic performance! His character is probably one of the most highly trained people Mike and Marcus have gone up against and these two are definitely the biggest pains in the arse he’s gone up against.

Warner. Bollocks

I refuse to believe these guys delivered a bad Batgirl movie. Sony has trusted them with a franchise that Michael Bay brought to life and these guys have kept the magic alive. I’m sure they had what would have been a very well received movie. Guys, you’re great and here at Action Reloaded, we got you! Ride or Die!

Verdict

Bad Boys: Ride or Die features some fast paced action scenes and high octane action. It has Martin Lawrence and Will Smith back at their best in the best entry in the franchise, it’s not to be missed! An explosive, adrenaline fueled, laugh-out-loud, action packed-thrill-ride!

Rating: 5 out of 5.
