Review: Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, two powerhouse names in the world of stand-up reunite for the Coming 2 America. While this may not be everyone’s cup of tea, fans of these two legends with be smiling ear to ear war thing these two tear up the screen.
Eddie Murphy is a stand-up genius, he inspired many comedians to this day, his jokes and skits were no holds barred and almost controversial. Two notable stand-up releases of Eddies, Raw and Delirious, still stand as two of the most hilarious stand-ups to date.
It was awesome to see Eddie come back and do a sequel to Coming To America before Beverly Hills Cop 4, which had been a hot topic for quite a while or the big budget standup comeback he was due to put out for Netflix. Amazon nabbed Murphy before all these potential projects and we got this lighthearted fun sequel.
Coming 2 America filled in the gaps from when we left Akeem and Semmi and a flashback to scene to the 80’s is very welcomed and looks great, the CGI deagaing is going to play a huge part going forward for older actors to play younger counterparts of themselves.
Coming 2 America is everything you would expect of a sequel to the original and it marks a return to form for Eddie, who hadn’t quite been hitting the mark with some of his previous efforts.
A highlight scene was in the barbershop, you would have thought by now these barbers would he died off but they’re still going strong. Eddie should consider releasing a few short movies based around them, that would be hilarious as these guys are hilarious.
Joining Eddie and Arsenio is Wesley Snipes, who steals the show in his scenes, it’s always fun to see Wesley on screen, he hasn’t really made a big movie since his comeback to movies. Fingers crossed this marks a return to form.
Overall, Coming 2 America is a fun sequel that produces laughs and brings one of Eddie’s much loved characters back to the screen! The flashback sequence was mind-blowing, it was like seeing back in the 1980’s, it was very well put together.
Now Eddie has shown he can successfully revive older movies, let’s hope we get Beverly Hills Cop 4 next!
