Review:

Jurassic World set the bar high when it hit cinemas in 2015. Now in 2018 we are treated to the sequel Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The sequel sees the return of our heroes from Jurassic World Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard). When we pick up with these characters there relationship they had rekindled in the first movie is now over. Claire is running a small Dino protection agency while Owen is content with living in his trailer, drinking beer and playing pool.

The characters are reunited when a volcano is threatening to destroy Isla Nublar and all the dinosaurs on it, including Blue.

This sequel is impressive it seems bigger than Jurassic World and director J. A. Boyona injects more of a horror feel into movie. The opening of the movie is dark and eery we see a submarine entering the now abandoned Isla Nublar through the enclosure that held the giant water dinosaur the mosasaurus. The members of the sub assume the dinosaurs are dead but there is a silhouette stalking them. Its a very dark and scary opening to the movie. The the last act of the film especially is very fun to watch in terms of horror. We are also treated to a new hybrid dinosaur that is capable of so much carnage and destruction, it would be ideally used to search and destroy. Its not big and powerful like the Indominus Rex was in Jurassic World. It is more sleek and predator like and very smart, you wouldn’t see or it hear it coming until its to late.

We do get some cool snippets throughout the film, we get to see Owen raising his Raptor pack and how him and Blue connected so well.

Speaking of Blue, she makes a welcome return to the franchise and gets to get in on the action. The return to Isla Nublar and the volcano erupting is awesome, it’s hard to get into detail without spoiling anything. The last thing I will say is that with the way the movie ends it sets up some really great ways to take a sequel and the franchise. I am looking forward seeing where the franchise will go from here.

A film not to be missed!!
