Review: I was very fortunate to recieve a screener for this movie, which for me was a dream come true. Being a massive fan of all these action stars and have them face off against eachother had me and I’m sure every other fan of the genre hyped to the maximum level. As I’m also sure at the same time we were worried that having such a prominent cast we were also worried about each action star not getting there moment or enough screen time etc. Well fans rest assured that is definitely not the case. Director Jesse V Johnson is no stranger when it comes to action movies, the guys lives and breathes the genre, the same way Aquaman takes to water. From the moment the film opens we are introduced to all our characters and get to see them in action, I really don’t want to give away a who vs who of fight scenes, as personally for me it was more exhilarating not knowing who was going to fight who and then when it did happen I found myself on the edge of my seat. The film itself is very well paced and is pretty much solid action and every fight scene is well choreographed and put together, the final fight is such a highlight. I loved the fact that our heroes, Jaa, Uwais, and Chen are not invincible kick ass machines and do struggle in some sitiations and need eachother to stay alive. Along with fights we have some gun battles that are really cool, there’s a police station scene that was amazing, I rewinded to watch it again, it reminded me of The Terminator police station assault. Celina Jade is the millionaires daughter who gets targeted, her character isn’t a damsel at all and a is very likeable strong female character, who gets her chance to shine. Overall It is such an explosive ride, it’s what an action movie should be like plenty of gun fights, explosions and fist fights. And everyone had a decent amount of screen time. It’s more throw back than The Expendables with how the action etc was paced and I would love to see this take off into a franchise as there are so many stories that can be told with these guys and also plenty more action stars to go up against. This movie hits the mark with a pristine 5/5!!
