Review: First of all I shall admit. I have never seen the TV series of The Equalizer. If this movie is anything to go by, I would invest the time.
Denzel Washington reteams with director Antoine Fuqua for The Equalizer. Denzel may not have won an Oscar but damn he created a memorable badass character in Robert McCall. At first Robert seems like the average kind of guy, but once pushed he is a force to be reckoned with. Which is very fitting as he is an ex Black Ops agent, who faked his death in order to live some-what of a normal life.
Chloe Grace Moretz plays Teri, a young prostitute. Teri wants to live a normal life and over time has bonded with Robert and they have become friends. When Teri is beaten to near death by her pimps Robert can’t stand by and watch. The only catch being is that they are big league Russian gangsters.
Our villain played by Marton Csokas is one to be remembered, at first he looks like the average sort of guy. Until we see he is a full blown raging psychopath, who has no trouble beating people half to death or even killing them slowly to make a point. You are just waiting for McCall to get his hands on him.
The movie is very brutal, the initial confrontation with the Russian gangsters shows us exactly what Robert McCall is capable of. Within a matter of seconds he has taken out about 5 of them. Each with precise and accurate blows. The finale is very Rambo like with McCall using everyday items too an effective need and setting traps.
Overall the movie is a solid action movie and Denzel and Antoine prove they are a forced to be reckoned with. This is a must for all action fans.
